“Be in Pursuit of the Ultimate Good” because that is a saying that Tyler told his sister and it was only them two that knew about it until after his death. After she told us about it we kinda took the saying and we have it on everything now.
This foundation was started because of all the support that was received by the community when that tragic event happened. After Tyler passed away in the line of duty, I (Zack King) reached out to a contact and got stickers made and all the money from sticker sales was profit due to the stickers all being donated. After having that money, I reached out to Debbie and Mark (Tyler’s parents) as well as Austin Cox who was Tyler’s sergeant at the time. After throwing ideas out it was determined that the best way to be able to carry on Tyler’s name and legacy would be to start a foundation in his name.
Things took off quickly. The foundation officially started in October 2021 and by Feb 6, 2022, we had our 1st BACK THE BLUE jeep ride as a foundation, but the second overall Back THE BLUE ride.
The first items sold were t-shirts, hoodies and stickers. We now have t-shirts, hoodies, stickers, challenge coins, bracelets and jeep badges along with other merchandise with Tyler’s name on it.
We are always looking for new ways to spread the word about Tyler and the type of man he was.
Tyler Avery Herndon – “Be in Pursuit of the Ultimate Good“
It was MHPD’s idea to wrap the car. As his parents, we were not sure that they had planned to retire the car let alone wrap it. It was a special surprise to us when we learned that was the case. The photos on the car tell his life story. Pictures from a young age with his sister. As a teenager with his family, and as an adult with the love of his life, his girlfriend of 2 years, Holly.
